Worth Repeating

23 10 2013

We visited Crail on holiday last week. It’s a small village on the east coast of Scotland, and one of my favourite places. The thing I miss most, now that I’m a city girl, is being able to regularly walk along the shore. It’s where the best thinking is done. It helps to keep things in perspective.

Sometimes our own significance gets lost in the routine of life, the relentless repetition. It’s easy to feel frustrated at the lack of impact our lives make. And then I stand on the shore and watch the tide go in and out – relentlessly, repeatedly. It gives glory to God. It speaks of his awesomeness, his sovereignty and vastness. It has significance – it is doing what God created it to do.

I think our lives can be like that too. Few of us will change the world, but we can make a difference, where we are, by being faithful, consistent and relentless in our worship of God. If our purpose is to glorify God and enjoy him forever, it starts here.
