That got your attention! This was the subject that we studied at Time Out for Women at our church on Saturday. Like greyhounds to a hare, women came in droves to learn how to deal with it. Okay, I exaggerate but there wasn’t a woman in the room who couldn’t identify with the subject. Here’s the condensed study notes:
Worry is allowing problems and distress to come between us and the heart of God. It’s the view that God has somehow lost control of the situation and we cannot trust Him.
A legitimate concern, however, presses us closer to the heart of God and causes us to lean and trust on Him all the more.
The top ten ways to combat stress/worry:
- pray Colossians 4 v 2
- meditate on God’s promises 1 Peter 1 v 4
- trust God Psalm 112 v 7
- do what is right Acts 24 v 16
- take care of our bodies 1 Corinthians 6 v 19 – 20
- don’t worry alone Proverbs 27 v 9
- focus on the good Ephesians 4 v 29
- be prepared Proverbs 21 v 20
- name your worries/pressures Proverbs 16 v 3
- give/care for others Acts 20 v 35
Good advice. Now it’s just a case of putting it into practise.
